The Heart is the home of relationships, the connections between human beings upon which they thrive and without which they would wither. The Heart keeps a pulse that unites all animals in music, a two-beat cycle that drums the song of influx and efflux, inner and outer, self and other. The song of the Heart is built on this beat, and it sings of love for others in its first verse. But like the Heartbeat, which has two pulses, one weak and one strong, relationships have a push and a pull. The second verse sings of the ephemeral nature of relationship. No bodymind can fully comprehend another; beings with egos are necessarily alienated from each other, even when they grow as close as possible. The technological acceleration of bodymind in the 21st century only serves to amplify both sides of this dilemma: Even though humans can be instantly in touch with one another across vast distances, their reliance on impersonal means of communication threatens to undermine their ability to make strong eye contact and be fully present with each other.
lyrics
I'm in love with everyone around me
Can't take my eyes off of you
and why would I want to?
My heart beats when I see you in the street
and when we chance to meet
you sweep me off my feet.
You're a picture floating on the air
I see you everywhere
but you're not really there
We are lights projected on a screen
Electric sleep machines
I'll see you in my dreams
