The Gut is the center of the ego, the source of all feelings of self and identity. Humans experience many of their insecurities, as well as their most instinctive thoughts, as feelings in the Gut. Drives emanating from other parts of the bodymind feed back through the Gut, where the self feels the weight and the impact of its experiences. This is the Song of the Self.
lyrics
I've got a feeling
in the pit of my stomach
it's there when I breathe
and it's there when I smile
I think it's me
I think the feeling is me
I got my feeling
when I stepped outside
and my nose got cold
I opened my eyes
and I saw the world
I saw Myself and the World
