The Root is located at the sacrum, the base of the spine. This is the bodymind's connection to its environment, the source of its animal instincts and its drive for survival. In the 21st century, much of the human species dwells in cities, surrounded by artificial sounds, smells, and sights mostly alien to its evolved instincts. Cities are certainly not devoid of non-human life, but all life forms in urban environments have experienced a quickening and hardening of their biological drives as they adapt to their constructed surroundings. This song is composed of recorded samples from the urban environment, harmonizing its machines, vehicles, voices, and other noises into a sonic background for modern urban life. Though humans are adept at blocking out these noises from their awareness, they gain an animal edge by stopping and listening to the complex sounds of the urban environment.
